The Paris Review is America's preeminent literary quarterly, dedicated to discovering and publishing the best new voices in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. The Review introduced readers to the earliest writing of Jack Kerouac, Philip Roth, V.S. Naipaul, and Mona Simpson. The magazine's renowned Writers at Work series of interviews includes legendary conversations with writers such as E.M. Forster, Ernest Hemingway, Salman Rushdie, and Toni Morrison. Founded in 1953 by Peter Matthiessen and Harold Humes, the magazine was edited for fifty years by George Plimpton. Since Philip Gourevitch was named editor in 2005, work published in the magazine has been included in Best American Short Stories, Best American Poetry, and Pushcart Prize anthologies. The Review won a 2007 National Magazine Award for photojournalism.
